Recommended Local Businesses 2/25/09

Need a shed? I've got a great company for you. The owners are wonderful people and the company does a great job and they are local. We had them build our shed just this past year.

January/Febuary 2009 Real Estate Newsletter

February 16, 2009

Already nearly two months into the new year and there is a lot going on! Just to mention a few; a new president, new economic problems to deal with, new issues in the financial market, and much more. Things seem to be quite volatile and one has to constantly pay attention to keep up on all the changes. That’s part of what this newsletter is for; to highlight news in the real estate and finance markets and to hopefully point you to important information that will help you to further research and be more informed, whether you plan to buy, sell, refinance, or just watch to see what happens over the next few years.

-$7500 to $15,000 to $8000 Tax Credits for Home Buyers: What the heck is going on and which one is going to stick? Here are a few articles concerning the discussions of the $15,000 and $8,000 tax credits, as well as the IRS webpage that describes the $7500 that was approved last year:
**Tax Credit Proposal Changes Again. This blog post links the Wall Street Journal’s coverage of the $8,000 proposal as well as links to a chart comparing the $7500 and $8000 plans.
**$7500 Tax Credit May Become $15,000. Well, not anymore. That plan was shot down, but this post links to an article that discusses what was in that plan.
**$7500 First Time Home Buyer Tax Credit. This post links you directly to the IRS website which explains the $7500 first time home buyer tax credit that was approved last year.
Confused? Me too. It’s tough to keep up with all the changes. Be sure to talk to your tax accountant for clarity and answer to your questions.

-Series on Short Sale Myths & Information: Short Sale “Genius” Lee Honish (former lost mitigator for Indymac bank turned Short Sale expert and seminar guru) answers a few questions about short sales. See video posts here.

-COMING SOON - Series on National Association of Realtors Code of Ethics: Realtors are members of the National Association of Realtors, and being a part of this organization we are to be held to a higher standard and to follow a code of ethics. This year I am going to go through those codes of ethics in parts. Be sure to check the Boise Realty Store Blog regularly for updates on this topic.

Take my January Poll: This month’s poll question asks “Is the Homeowner Tax Credit going to sway you to purchase a home in 2009 (or did it sway you to purchase in 2008?) “ (view poll on right side bar).

Last Month’s Poll Results: The question was, “Is the current economy affecting how you spend money this Christmas?” See the Poll Results.
