March 2009 Real Estate Newsletter

March 16, 2009

Spring Break is coming soon and that means Summer is on it's way!

-First Time Homebuyer Tax Credit: Last month I linked to different articles discussing the $7500 and $8000 tax credits for homebuyers. There were a lot of different possibilities going around, but in the end a decision was made. First time homebuyers who purchased a home in 2008 are eligible for the $7500 tax credit and first time homebuyers who purchase a home in 2009 are eligible for the $8000 tax credit. Below I have linked articles and information for both. Be sure to talk to your tax accountant for clarification and for your specific situation.
**Expanded Tax Break Available for First Time Homebuyers: The IRS has updated their website to include information on the new $8000 tax credit for 2009.
**$7500 First Time Home Buyer Tax Credit: Here is the IRS info on the 2008 tax credit.
**Chart Comparing the $7500 and $8000 Tax Credits: This chart lays out both tax credits, their similarities and differences in a clear, concise manner.
**IRS.gov First Time Homebuyer Credit: More links and information direct from the IRS official website.

-Series on Recommended Local Businesses: This year I have started a series on local businesses that I use and support. If you have a business that I may not know about or haven't use, please email me at kaseyboles@boiserealtystore.com. This month features the businesses below:
**Idaho Wood Sheds
**Mary Kay Consultant

- Series on National Association of Realtors Code of Ethics: Realtors are members of the National Association of Realtors, and being a part of this organization we are to be held to a higher standard and to follow a code of ethics. This year I am going to go through those codes of ethics in parts. Be sure to check the Boise Realty Store Blog regularly for updates on this topic.
**First Installment: Preamble

Take my March/April Poll: This month’s poll question asks “Are you ready for summer? “ (view poll on right side bar).

Last Month’s Poll Results: The question was, “Is the Homeowner Tax Credit going to sway you to purchase a home in 2009 (or did it sway you to purchase in 2008?) “ See the Poll Results.

Meebo Chat!

If you've been wondering why you haven't been able to catch me on the chat, I've been having computer issues for a few weeks. I had to get a new computer, transfer all my information to the new computer, deal with slow internet and having another program running in the background while I was doing that wasn't working. So, I apologize. Once I get everything back up to full speed I'll be signed on as often as possible.

Local & National News and Info 3/9/2009

It's hard not to notice all of the subdivisions that are still under construction, homes scattered throughout the subdivision with many parcels of to be built lots. Besides those developments already physically in the works there are still even more that have been approved, plans for large planned communites that have yet to get to the ground breaking stage and the economy has slowed things down. The Idaho Business Review published an article today about this very subject.

Undeveloped Idaho: Treasure Valley planned communities stand idle - POSTED: Monday, March 9, 2009 by Dani Grigg - idahobusiness.net
